Happened on Thursday when M. Ward brought some friends to New York to play Conan with him. For most people bringing your friends to a taping would be lame, but when you’re M. Ward it’s musical genius.
Ya see, those friends were My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James (who cut his hair off!), Neko Case, and Kelly Hogan. It was simply amazing: I have watched it back about 15 times since. The song should have been recorded this way, dangit! I mean don’t get me wrong, the version on Post-War is great, but Neko’s harmonies are unbearably pleasing and Jim singing the second verse is the most right thing I’ve heard in weeks. Anyways, enough with my raving, here’s the mp3 and YouTube.
If you know me, you know my love for all things Matt Ward related is endless, but even if you’re not a fan you should give this a listen. I dare you to tell me it’s bad.
